We are currently seeking 2nd and 3rd shift CNC Machinist and CNC Operators for a great opportunity, with a client of ours located in Holt, MI. The Machinist/Metal Finisher is responsible for grinding parts to remove flash and other indications according to the established standard work for production purposes. He/she will also contribute to the production of medical devices by operating and performing basic set ups of CNC 3 and multi axis machines, with the ability to identify machine coordinates.

Duties of a CNC Machinist include:

  • Operate grinding equipment in cell, including cut off wheel, buffing wheel, belt grinder, etc.
  • Inspect and remove defects such as cracks, belt marks, dings & dents, etc.
  • Inspect parts using gaging to determine areas that lie outside of specifications.
  • Use inspection tools and gages, e.g., overlay, calipers, Go/No-go Gages, micrometers, Height Gages, and OC (Optical Comparators) as required.
  • Set up jobs and operate conventional, special-purpose and computerized numerical control (CNC) machines to fabricate metallic parts.
  • Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, grinders and tooling pre-setter.
  • Load programs into CNC machine and execute program to accurately machine parts to meet customer specifications.
  • Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings to programmed control data ensuring functionality and performance.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and make off sets and adjustments to machines with moderate supervision.
  • Operates multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Confer with engineers, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Complete essential documentation as required.
  • Perform housekeeping per 6S schedule.
  • Operate within multiple cells.
  • Train and assist others as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed by the Department Supervisor or Lead.
