CNC Machinist III

1st Shift, M-TH 6:30am--5pm OR

3rd Shift F-Sun 5am-5:30pm (Plus a $2.50 an hour shift differential) 

Pay $24-30 per hour depending upon experience (Ability to earn Additional $2 per hour)

This role will be vital to the company's contractual commitments to their customers, with a primary focus on the operation of CNC machines; multiple machine functions utilizing a variety of materials, help lead and train Level I and II machinists, troubleshoot issues, and generate continuous improvements ideas on manufacturing issues to deliver a profitable and timely manufactured product to specifications. 

  • Set Up CNC equipment without supervision
  • Change cutting tools and adjust machine feeds and speeds as needed
  • Assist in equipment set up for Level I and Level II Machinist
  • Perform FP (First Part) and In-Process part inspections
  • Identify root causes and corrective action for quality problems within work cell
  • Utilize measuring equipment used in the industry such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauge pins, and other measuring equipment needed to complete work
  • Utilize production work orders (Travelers) and associated documents to complete work
  • Ensure all required documentation is complete and correct
  • Use prescribed procedures to inspect part(s) and product(s) produced to assure compliance to specifications that will eliminate defects, scrap, rework, etc. Ensure part(s) meet all customer quality requirements per the company’s AS9100 Quality System.
  • Prioritize and coordinate work flow for Level I and Level II machinists
  • Oversee training of Level I and Level II machinists
  • Detect and report defective equipment , materials, and/or faulty operations to Shift Supervisor
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency


Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of CNC equipment capability and daily maintenance
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Skill in performing mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fraction and decimals)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to the aerospace industry.
  • Skill in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and other inspection gauges
  • Skill in reading and interpreting documents such as work orders, drawings, internal and customer specifications, manuals, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to identify, organize, estimate, and recognize differences or similarities with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to efficiently train Level I and II CNC Machinists in all aspects of the job. The duties of trainer would include on-the-job training.
  • Ability to train individuals with a variety of experience levels and personalities.
  • Knowledge of 5s and lean concepts and ability to help move forward with achieving department goals.
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
  • Ability to motivate and develop staff. 
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years’ experience with CNC machining, aerospace blueprints/drawings and specifications OR equivalent education/experience required
  2. Skilled Trade certification from accredited college, community college, or vocational school preferred.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year College or University, with a technical major such as computer science or MIS (Management Information Systems) highly preferred.
