Description

A structural steel shop in Arlington that specializes in the fabrication of steel beams and columns is looking for Welders on the 2nd shift.

If you are a MIG/Flux Core Welder, we would like to hear from you!

Since the welding is structural steel, welders need to have or be able to obtain a WABO certification. The company is also an approved WABO Testing Agency where you can get WABO certified through them.  

Work Environment: Fabrication shop; steel beams and columns, structural steel parts, MIG and Flux Core Welding.

Job Duties of the Welder Position:

  • Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Cuts workpiece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
  • Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form.
  • Observes tests on welded surfaces and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Read drawings and weld symbols
  • Equipment Selection -- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. 
  • Installs or repairs equipment, such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings

2nd shift Information:

  • Pay rate $25-$28/hour
  • Shift times are 3:30 pm-2:00 am; Mon-Thurs with overtime on Fridays when requested

Job Requirements

Requirements of the Welder Position: 

  • 3-5 years of MIG and Flux Core Welding experience (Apply and let us know about your experience)
  • WABO Certification (Preferred)
  • Extensive metal fabrication experience
  • Be able to read a tape measure, calipers, and other precision measuring tools
  • Able to read, understand and evaluate structural blueprints
  • Have good attendance and be on time each day
  • Have your own shop tools (Preferred)
  • Precision and attention to detail
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Teachable; able to follow instructions
