General Description: Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents. Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements. Prepare data associated with producing products and improving the design/production of products. Utilizes a working knowledge of metal fabrication and the manufacturing process to recommend ways of making projects/products more efficient. Collects data as projects progress and uses that data to revise estimates on future projects. Inputs collected data into the ERP system. Uses ERP and other computer software, i.e. spreadsheets, to process large amounts of information and create more accurate projections. Works with sales to produce accurate bidding guidelines. Uses ERP to generate reports and forecasts that will aid material procurement and production planning. Works closely with Purchasing and Planning departments to build accurate project budgets and timelines. Participate in overseeing how new goods and services are produced and procured. Work closely with Purchasing to identify weaknesses in supply chain and offer alternatives. Works hand in hand with Production Planning to collect accurate data and guide scheduling. Spend time visiting various subcontractors and negotiating with service professionals and suppliers.
