A local metal fabrication company is looking for a Tool and Die Machinist.


Job Description for a Tool and Die Machinist:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and use necessary measuring devices to make, or modify existing tooling, tools for new or old job prints
  • Set up and operate all tool room machines for specific form tool, tap, drills, welding, or holder for grinding
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
  • Supports machine/tooling set-up personnel as needed
  • Use gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
  • Use precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches and a variety of cutting tools, welding equipment
  • Fabricate and shape parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics and composites
  • Properly and safely select, align, secure and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
  • Recognize, deploy and properly use inserts, fixtures and tooling


Shift Details and Pay Rate for Tool and Die Machinist:

  • 1st shift
  • Pay is based on experience but could range up to $17.75/hr

Job Requirements

Tool and Die Machinist Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least a two-year technology degree highly desirable; applicable experience may be accepted
  • The individual must interact with people at all levels and communicate effectively
  • Must have strong communications skills both verbal and written
  • Must be able to perform basic math functions. Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Must understand basic computer skills
  • Shows ability to use sound and prudent judgment and problem-solving skills

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hand and fingers, climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk and hear • The employee must on occasion lift and/or move up to 25- 50 pounds
